SAFETY FIRST

Wiggle LOVES children.  She asked Furlock Bones Investigator to help her tell children how to stay safe on the Internet!  After all, we need you to grow up safe and loved so that you can help the animals stay safe too!
Take the WiggleBus Pledge!  STAY SAFE!

1. I Promise NOT  TO SHARE!
Share your toys with your friends and family!  BUT DON'T EVER SHARE THESE THINGS ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT YOUR PARENTS KNOWING:

Don't share email address, name, age, town or street you live in, screen name, passwords, instant messengers, photographs, the school you go to!  NOT EVEN if you THINK it's just to another kid.  Henry and Guinness got tricked on the internet, and you can too!  It is IMPAWSIBLE to tell the good guys from the bad guys there!  Don't even share this information with video game sites, EVEN IF THEY PROMISE to send you something for free!

2. I PROMISE NOT TO KEEP SECRETS!
It's ok to plan surprise birthday parties with your real life friends and to keep that a surprise.  It's NOT ok to keep secrets with people on the INTERNET.  There is NEVER a good reason for a person to ask you to do this.  If something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable, TELL YOUR PARENTS RIGHT AWAY. If it's a friend that is keeping a secret, tell your parents.  They might be in trouble.  Let an adult know.

3. I WON'T GO OUT TO PLAY!
with anyone I think I know from the internet.  Even if they tell me they are from my school, or on my team.  Even if they send me a picture and they look like a nice person, or look like they are my age.  The bad guys know how to fake this stuff.  DON'T AGREE to meet ANYONE from the Internet unless your PARENTS ARE WITH YOU.

4. I  WON'T BE NICE!
Well, of course you'll be nice to your friends and family.  But if anyone tells you to do anything you feel uncomfortable about, TELL!  If anyone sends you instant messages, pop-ups or emails with bad words or pictures, TELL YOUR PARENTS RIGHT AWAY so they can let the online service know!

5. I WON'T DO WHAT I'M TOLD!
Definitely, it's IMPORTANT to obey your parents.  But you don't have to do what you are told just because someone is a grown-up.  If they are telling you to do something that gives you a bad feeling, USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT to get away and tell your parents, or someone you trust until you can get to your parents.  ALWAYS tell your parents about ANYTHING that bothers you!  PS. Homework doesn't count.  That's NOT the kind of bad feeling we are talking about!

6. I WON'T OPEN PRESENTS!
Not the internet kind anyway.  I won't click on links in junk email or pop-ups, and I won't download ANYTHING onto my comptuer, even if it really IS from someone I know.

Email can have viruses that make your computer sick!  Get your parents to check it out first!  Remind them to keep antivirus software running!

7. I WON'T GO TO MY ROOM!
or any place alone on the computer.  My parents and I will agree about safe places to visits and safe times I can use the internet.

8. I WILL BUG MY FRIENDS!
Well, I'll bug them about being safe on the internet.  Kids have to get the word out to each other!  Just because a computer is in your safe home, does NOT mean it is safe!

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
FOR ANIMALS AND KIDS!

Love, "Wiggle" (With a little help from Furlock Bones)
