You Little Squirt!

Before Patrick left the drugstore that night, he bought some typewriter oil and a can of whipped cream.  Cricket gave him a puzzled look, but he didn't say a word.

When they got home, Patrick went straight to Mr. Remington to tell him the good news.

"We did it Mr. Remington!  I have my first job!"

Mr. Remington typed C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-! and then he zipped his carriage back and forth to make his bell ring a happy ring.

"Ding, Ding, Ding! That's WONDERFUL!" beamed Mr. Remington, who was very proud of Patrick.

Not only did Patrick find himself a wonderful job, he remembered to come back to say "thank you" to Mr. Remington for all his help.

"And," smiled Patrick excitedly, "I brought you a present!  A bottle of typewriter oil so that you will feel good as new!"

Mr. Remington was delighted.  "Why, I feel younger already!  I cannot even remember how long it has been since someone bought ME a present!"

"I have to go and tell the others," said Patrick.  "They will never believe it!"

As Patrick approached the dining room where the others were, he could hear Cricket already making his big announcement.

"Oh well," said Patrick.  "She doesn't know about this..."

"You little squirt!" he laughed, "you have told my surprise!"

With that, Patrick took the top off the whipped cream can, and shook it up as hard as he could.

"I've got a can of whipped cream and I know how to use it!"

With that, Patrick started to celebrate his good news with his friends.

"ME FIRST!" laughed Cricket, opening her mouth up wide.
"I'm next!" called Henry, licking his lips.  Henry LOVED whipped cream!

Patrick squirted it way up in the air for Henry to catch.

Molly got a big glob of whipped cream on her face.  She was able to lick it off everywhere except for the top of her snout!

"Congratulations Patrick!" she said.  "We are all so proud of you!"

"It's MY turn!" piped HT. "Give ME some of that stuff!"

"Here you go!" laughed Patrick.

"Don't forget ME!" cried Scruffy.  "I LOVE whipped cream!"

They made such a mess everywhere, it looked like a snow storm.  The six friends had such a great time celebrating Patrick's good fortune that they almost didn't notice that it really WAS snowing outside.

"Look!" said Henry.  "It's starting to snow!"
